We are introducing Built-In Protection for Microsoft Defender for Office 365 to automatically elevate all users within your organization to the base level of security protection. Built-In Protection will implement a low impact version of Safe Attachments and Safe Links, removing burden on admins to configure users with recommended security settings and policies. This new preset security policy will require no admin action and will be turned on by default for all new and existing customers. As a result, customers will be automatically protected from unintentional configuration gaps in their policies and experience overall improved protection against phish and malicious message delivery to end users.

Microsoft Teams: Auto-Expiration of Meeting Recordings stored on OneDrive and SharePoint

Newly created Teams meeting recordings in OneDrive and SharePoint will be automatically deleted by the service based on a default Teams policy setting. Teams Admins will be able to modify the default meeting recording expiration time via a setting in the Teams Admin Portal or by modifying policy attributes using Powershell scripts. Newly created meeting recordings in OneDrive & SharePoint will be automatically deleted after this point unless the meeting owner extends the expiration.  Meeting owners will be notified about expired recordings and may extend the expiration date in OneDrive/SharePoint. Compliance policies will override the expiration setting.

Now, admins will have the ability to create Conditional Access policies to allow/deny access using a new type of Named Location based off GPS data. When the policy is enabled, end users will need to share their GPS location from the mobile device on which Microsoft Authenticator is installed. The user’s mobile device is a good indication of the user’s actual location at the time.

Also, you can customize thresholds for each triggering event. Insider Risk Management in Microsoft 365 correlates various signals from the chip to the cloud to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, security, and policy violations, and more. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to ensure user-level privacy.

Communication Compliance Day Zero Insights helps organizations discover trends that they may not be aware of, like harassment, threats or sharing of sensitive information. Insights for sensitive information types are surfaced automatically through the existing Compliance center data classification service while insights for machine learning classifiers require an organization to have already configured a policy in Communication Compliance. Insights for both sensitive information types and machine learning classifiers are designed to help organizations holistically set up parameters for internal governance by identifying potential areas of risk and determining the type and scope of communication policies to be configured. Day Zero Insights displays the aggregate number of matches per classification type, with none of the insights containing any personally identifiable information.

Exchange: Online – Tag for external email

This roadmap is cancelled as a duplicate of 70595. Exchange will make available a PowerShell cmdlet so that admins can enable the protections against spam & phishing threats from external senders.  This will be achieved by presenting a new tag on emails called “External” in the message list in Outlook on the web, the new Outlook for Mac, Outlook for iOS and Android. In some Outlook clients, a “mail tip” will be included at the top of the reading pane with sender’s email address.

Microsoft Search and Office 365 for Business: Topics in Microsoft 365 Profile Cards

Users will now be able to add Topics to their profile card in Microsoft 365. Topics are terms that individuals can add to their profile through their profile card or Office Delve. Users can add topics to their profile to make it easier for people to learn more about them. Topics can be skills, projects, and even hobbies. When others search for a term that matches a topic on their profile, their name and profile picture may show up in search results across Microsoft apps.  This feature has been cancelled.

Microsoft Viva: Focus time experiences in Viva Insights app in Microsoft Teams

This feature has been delayed. A new roadmap entry will be added when we have new information. Viva Insights will be rolling out a new experience that expands on the focus time feature in Viva Insights enabling Microsoft 365 users to work uninterrupted with Teams notifications silenced. Focus mode will enrich the focus time experience by helping users make progress on important work, with focus music from Headspace. This immersive experience includes a notification, and a new focus mode page in the Viva Insights Teams app. Users will be able to enroll or modify their focus plan settings, or book ad-hoc focus time in the Viva Insights Teams app.
